Quick answer
Find Gragu in the One Legged Wolf Tavern in eastern Fainweald. Keep talking until he asks for the Heart of Vatra, then travel east to the Temple of Vatra, take the Heart from the statue, escape the ambush and bring it back. After the cutscene, Gragu’s body becomes a collectible Shell.
Step 1: get Gragu to talk
Gragu sits inside the tavern near the One Legged Wolf Beacon. His first responses are intentionally unhelpful. Keep using the talk prompt until the Heart of Vatra request appears.
While you are there, the tavern is also a useful equipment stop because the Troubadour’s Lute sidearm can be collected inside.
Step 2: go east to the Temple of Vatra
Current launch routes agree that the Heart is in the Temple of Vatra, across the eastern cliffside route from the tavern/Beacon.
The temple area can remain visually awkward on the map, so use the tavern and eastern crossing as landmarks rather than waiting for a perfect map pin.
Step 3: take the Heart and expect an ambush
The Heart is held by a corrupted/kneeling statue near the top/end of the temple route. Taking it wakes the surrounding enemies.
You do not have to kill the entire ambush. If the return gate is blocked, use the available side exit/loop and get back across the ravine.
Step 4: give it to Gragu
Return to the tavern and choose to hand over the Heart. The sequence ends with Gragu dying, which is exactly what makes his body available to the Harbinger.
How Gragu plays
His two defining ideas are Staggering Blow and Revered Heart.
- Staggering Blow is a chargeable punch built for heavy stagger and burst.
- Revered Heart uses a kill-fed healing model instead of the same recovery rhythm as every other Shell.
Full-release build testing shows Gragu can become very forgiving once kills keep the healing/Resolve loop moving, but he can feel weaker immediately after resting before that engine starts.
