Quick answer
In Mammon, work west through the High Lord’s Courtyard into the crypt/keep route and defeat Vellen, Lord of Mammon. Lazlo’s corpse is in the final chamber beyond the arena. His playstyle is heavy armor plus Retribution → Heat → Overheat management.
Lazlo location
Lazlo is a later Shell because the route sits in Mammon rather than early Fainweald.
Use this landmark chain:
Outskirts of Mammon → High Lord’s Courtyard → crypt/keep interior → Vellen → final chamber.
Different launch guides call parts of the interior Royal Crypt, Crypts of Mammon or High Lord’s Keep. The boss and final chamber are the stable landmarks, so this page avoids pretending the area naming is perfectly standardized.
How Lazlo fights
Lazlo is built around armor and Heat.
Retribution releases an AoE shockwave that deals damage/Break pressure and can apply Burn. Repeated use builds Heat. At high Heat, passive bonuses make the armored state stronger; pushing past the threshold with another Retribution triggers Overheat, producing a larger burst but temporarily removing the armor advantage while it cools.
The real skill is when not to Overheat
Against packs, the big burst can be worth the vulnerable window. Against a boss with a dangerous multi-hit response, triggering Overheat at the wrong time can remove the exact protection that made Lazlo safe.
A clean rhythm is:
- Build Heat while normal armor is active.
- Sit near the strong Heat state while the fight is dangerous.
- Overheat when the AoE/burst has a real payoff.
- Play defensively through the cooldown.
- Rebuild.
