Mortal Shell 2 September Hotfixes: Egon's Stone & Warden Fixes

What the September 15 and September 25 Mortal Shell II hotfixes changed: Egon's Stone dungeon fixes, Stone durability, Warden and Hexapod fixes, plus Low Latency Mode.

OfficialPatch: Hotfixes (Sep 15 & Sep 25)Last verified: 2026-09-25

Quick answer

Two hotfixes landed in September: September 15 (PC, PS5 and Xbox Series) and September 25. The player-facing headline is Egon’s Stone: dungeons that failed to load after using it are fixed, and the stone no longer wipes Gloom, on top of a round of Stone durability repairs. Later fixes touch The Warden, Orrem, the Reclaimed, Hexapod, Mether’s Severance, and Adaptive Difficulty, which now has on-screen tier support — plus a new Low Latency Mode (NVIDIA Reflex / AMD Anti-Lag 2).

Patch status and how to read this page

Both hotfixes are live on PC. The September 15 post explicitly lists PC, PS5 and Xbox Series; the September 25 post does not name platforms, so treat console timing as unconfirmed and check your installed version. This page is a player-impact summary, not a copy of the changelog.

Egon’s Stone: two rounds of fixes

Egon’s Stone (revive at a dungeon entrance, no Gloom loss for that death) arrived with the Week 1 Update and then misbehaved in ways that made players shelve it. Both September hotfixes went at it:

  • Dungeons would not load after using it. Fixed on September 15, then fixed again in a follow-up pass on September 25.
  • It was protecting or removing Gloom it should not. September 15 closed a Gloom exploit; September 25 fixed the stone removing Gloom dropped in the open world.
  • Stone durability repairs. Justiciar’s Stone durability issues were fixed, Gloombound Stone no longer loses durability from Gloom sources other than enemies, and Colossus Stone’s ability can now be cancelled mid-execution.

If you dropped an Egon’s Stone build in the first weeks, it is worth re-testing: the dungeon-entry behaviour is now the intended one, and the stone is back to doing only what its description says.

Mether’s Severance and the respec fixes

The Shell respec item picked up several fixes: it can now be used at the Genessa trainer (September 15), cancelling it with a gamepad no longer soft-locks the player, and a Stray Genessa is interactable again after using it (both September 25). Genessa’s Faithful Doubles also had an issue with Lost Clotstone fixed. More on the item itself in the Glimpses guide.

Enemies and bosses

  • The Warden: jump timing and trigger boxes are more responsive, it no longer jumps through walls, and several smaller fixes landed.
  • Hexapod: the dive attack no longer continues after death, and players can no longer be pushed outside the arena.
  • Orrem, the Reclaimed: a bug that could kill it instantly is fixed.
  • Miniboss fights: enemies no longer become aggroed mid-fight by mistake.
  • Final boss: fire ring attacks were tweaked.
  • September 15 also covered frozen enemies and bosses, the Twin Sester escape, and the Starved Harridan getting stuck and dying.

Adaptive Difficulty tiers and Low Latency Mode (September 25)

The experimental Adaptive Difficulty setting (added September 5) now has on-screen tier support in the UI, with improved icons and a clearer night-mode icon — the September 5 notes said nothing displayed when it adjusted, and that is no longer true. The same hotfix added a Low Latency Mode option (NVIDIA Reflex and AMD Anti-Lag 2), fixed the missing VSync tooltip while frame generation is on, and shipped Hub shadow and texture optimizations. The Beginner guide section on Adaptive Difficulty has been updated to match.

NPCs, world and stability

Zhirelle now interacts correctly in NG+; duplicate Muttons no longer spawn in the hub; NPCs can no longer be damaged by sidearms; and Genessa’s dialogue and training tutorials had several fixes. In the world, the Citadel Annex traversal camera, the Ashen Cathedral death volumes, the trap after claiming Lazlo, burn and stasis hazard values, and several collision and geometry issues were fixed. Both hotfixes include crash and stability improvements.

Trophies: one fixed, one still open

“Seeking the Past” is fixed. “Bring My Ova Back to Me” is not — the September 25 post was edited to say the fix is coming in the next update, so don’t burn time hunting a workaround for it yet.
